We all love to see our kids living in the sunshine, but if they're going out in the sun, they need to be safe. It doesn't matter if you're heading off for a summer vacation on a sunny beach abroad or you are sticking close to home. UV-protection is absolutely essential whenever your little bandits are out and about.
With childhood sunburns being the leader in causing skin cancer later in life, we need to ensure our kids are protected from the harmful UV rays. After all, it doesn't need to be a hot and sunny day for their skin to suffer damage from the sun. Just because it looks cloudy, doesn't mean your little bandits can't burn. An overcast sky doesn't block UV rays, while the sand on the beach can reflect the light back up to their skin and increase their exposure. Similarly, water will also reflect UV radiation. The best method of sun protection has to be sun avoidance. However this is not practical at all, especially for your little wild child.
Beach & Bandits loves summer and the sun and we all need Vitamin D, but like most things in life its about moderation. So whether your little bandit is running wild on the beach, hanging ten on a surfboard or making bombs in an outdoor pool, be sure to take the necessary precautions to protect their skin - such as wearing the coolest UPF 50+ threads from Beach & Bandits. Taking measures to protect you little wild child from the sun will help to prevent the short term consequences of overexposure, such as sunburn, or the long-term effects such as skin cancer. All Beach & Bandits uv-wear has a natural sun blocking ability because of the tightness of weave in the fabric, which is marked with a UPF rating of 50+, blocking over 97,5% of the suns harmful rays.
Of course, do not forget to apply water resistant sunscreen to any uncovered parts of your kids skin. Remember to apply it well before your little bandit goes out in the sun and be sure to re-apply it regularly, because activities such as wiping their face, swimming or playing in the sand can rub it off. We strongly recommend to avoid over exposure of uncovered skin especially between 12 am and 3 pm when the sun is at its harshest.
We are looking forward to enjoy the sunshine with your little bandits!
